Diet Breakfast Recipe Ideas

There are many different types of good meal plans and recipes that can help make for an ideal diet breakfast - that is a breakfast designed to help you lose weight. These recipes can vary greatly depending on what type of diet plan you are actually following, as obviously low carb and low fat diets are going to have very different types of foods that you can eat. However, in general there are some foods that are always good as a diet breakfast food, while others pretty much fail any test (sorry biscuits and gravy). Hopefully this hub can help educate you to excellent diet meals that work as a great breakfast, and steer you away from choices that will start you off behind for the entire day.  Part of the trick is to learn to think creatively; breakfast is a meal, so you don't always have to tie to yourself to a certain type of food.  So read on to get some ideas on good breakfast dishes for your diet!

Ideal Foods Make Ideal Breakfast Plates

One of the most important aspects of putting together good breakfast recipes or a great diet breakfast meal is using the right foods. Good foods for diets include:

  • Eggs
  • Lean turkey sausage or lean ground turkey
  • 1% or skim chocolate milk
  • Vegetables
  • Coffee or tea
  • 1/2 a boneless, skinless chicken breast
  • Oatmeal

These are just a few of the good foods that can make a diet healthy breakfast. One of my favorite breakfast meals that can also make a good diet meal is my "diet breakfast scramble." My recipe for a diet breakfast scramble:

  1. 2 medium to small eggs (3 if you're about to work out)
  2. 100 calories of ground turkey (measure based on package info)
  3. 1/4-1/2 diced bell pepper
  4. 1/4-1/2 diced tomato
  5. Mushrooms (optional)
  6. Black pepper, white pepper, garlic powder (not salt), and cayenne pepper (optional)

Scramble the eggs in one pan while frying the ground turkey in another. Break up the ground turkey to small bits that will be easily mixed in with the eggs. Add the tomato and bell pepper in with the turkey and season. Add mushrooms if you like them, as well. I recommend garlic powder, black and white pepper, and a touch of cayenne pepper for an extra kick to jump start the metabolic furnace. Mix the eggs, veggies, and mushrooms and add another layer of spice to taste, and you have a delicious and filling breakfast for 250-350 calories.

Add a half slice of grapefruit and a cup of chocolate milk, tea, or coffee and you have a morning meal that's perfect for virtually any diet.

If you are a big time work out fanatic or power lifting type of workout coming up, double the turkey or feel free to add a little tuna.  If you have to add a condiment, add salsa.  Do not add cheese unless you want to shoot the calories and fat way up.

Special Breakfast Foods

Recipes or meals that involve the following elements are going to help you lose weight as part of a healthy diet breakfast.

Eggs:  This food is very low in calories, but very high in protein.  They can be filling and help to build muscle.  The protein is also harder for the body to break down, keeping your metabolism going.

Turkey or Chicken: Turkey is the perfect all around substitute for sausage, beef, and other fatty morning foods.  Lean turkey tastes great, takes seasoning well, and is high in protein and much lower in calories or fat.  Frying half of a boneless skinless chicken breast also provides great protein and low calories as a great morning food.

Tea or Coffee: Tea and coffee have both been shown to help boost metabolism and aid in weight loss throughout the day.  Tea does have additional benefits, but both in moderation are a great way to kick start a day.

Chocolate Milk: Recent studies have shown that 3 cups of chocolate milk a day (skim or 1%) help build muscles, rev up the metabolism, and kill sweet cravings.  A cup in the morning and one before and after a workout have led to amazing results in many individual dieters.

The best way to find a great breakfast diet recipe is to find ones that avoid gravies, cheese, and traditional fattening items like sausage, bacon, or bagels.  Watch the condiments, and instead look for things like fruit salad, grapefruit (without added sugar), boneless skinless turkey breast, healthy scramble, or other similar types of ingredients.  Making even a few moderate changes in the morning can lead to huge results when it comes to weight loss.
