Alternatives to Liposuction

Introduction to an Alternative to Liposuction

Liposuction has been used by a lot of people to change their bodies, but knowing some of the alternatives to liposuction is a very important thing as well. Liposuction is not for everyone, people with poor health or who are obese are not even going to be able to get a liposuction procedure done. For them, finding alternatives to liposuction becomes very important, not only for changing the way the body looks, but for health reasons as well. Besides, it is always smart to look at different options besides surgery before deciding that liposuction is the best thing to do. Your doctor should also encourage you to investigate some of the other options out there. Cosmetic surgery is a way to change the look of your body, but it is not necessarily a way to make you healthier. Exploring the healthy, natural options first is always very important. If the body can be changed by using alternatives to liposuction, than the liposuction procedure really will not be necessary.

Why Look at Alternatives?

There are numerous reasons why it is smart to look at alternatives to liposuction. The best reason is probably cost. Liposuction is a very expensive procedure, especially when you add the expenses of the liposuction with anesthetic costs and hospital bills. Liposuction procedures are also not guaranteed to work if you do not take care of your body afterwords. Do not waste your money, investigate all options before hand.

Avoiding risk factors is also a good reason to avoid liposuction. There are always going to be risk factors associated with liposuction, including having a bad reaction to anesthetic, loosing to much blood during the operation, infection, and unwanted bruising and scarring. If there is some other way to get the results wanted, you should try those first.

Diet and Exercise

All good doctors are going to give you one major piece of advice before you try liposuction, that is try changing your diet and increasing your exercise regime. This is important because liposuction is a cosmetic surgery, while changing your lifestyle through a proper diet and exercise is a major health benefit. Some of the fat can be getting rid of by doing this. Liposuction will come into play when it is a hormonal imbalance causing the fat to be stored their, or when diet and exercise just cannot get rid of that last little section of fat.

Supplements

For some procedures, there might be alternatives to liposuction in supplement form. For example, men who are looking at breast reduction surgery, might want to start by looking at some of the supplements that claim to remove fat from the chest area. These pills, when combined with diet and exercise, can naturally remove fat from unwanted areas. Even if the supplements do not work, it is a good way to start, just because you will be spending a $100 on some pills compared to $4,000 on a chest reduction surgery.

When dealing with any type of supplement, it is ok to ask your doctor about them first. Also, do some research and see if you can find supplements that have a proven track record of success.

Mesotheropy

Mesotheropy is becoming a popular alternative to liposuction procedures. This is another type of alternative that does have to be paired with a proper diet and exercise (are you seeing a pattern develop here). What mesotheropy does is inject the fat layers in your body with certain types of substances to try and remove the fat over time. For example, anti-inflammatory medications, nutrients, anti-oxidants, and things of that nature can be injected into the fat, with the hopes of removing it from your body.

I would talk to your doctor before even considering mesotheropy, and I would make sure it is done by someone with a lot of experience if you go this route.

Lotions and Other Alternatives

There are lotions that claim to remove stretch marks and help to make the skin look better. Those are always options when trying to improve the body. You also got a lot of the new age procedures that claim to help remove fat and weight. These procedures include detox weight loss procedures, sea-weed wraps, and mud baths. You can try all of these options to see if they give you better looking skin, and help remove the fat you want.

Benefits and Disadvantages of Liposuction

Liposuction is going to give you the type of body you want. A good doctor is going to be able to get rid of the fat in the area being operated on, and you should have very minimal scaring and marking if any. This is really a lot easier than spending a lot of time dieting and exercising.

However, liposuction is always going to have some of those inherent risks that i listed about like a small chance of scarring and permanent marking, or adverse effects when the procedure is going on. Not to mention the actual cost of the procedure, which depending on what is being done and how much fat is being removed can cost anywhere from $3,500 - $15,000.

Conclusion

Even if in the end you decide liposuction is right for you, you need to start your decision making process off with diet and exercise. Even if the diet and exercise fails to remove the last little bit of fat from a trouble area, at least you are setting yourself up for success after the procedure is complete. Diet and exercise change your life in a positive way, making you much healthier. Liposuction is just a cosmetic surgery, and has to be paired with other things to create a healthier lifestyle. I think that is the most important thing to remember before getting any procedure done.
