A Look at Different Liposuction Procedure Types

Introduction to Liposuction Procedures
With the increasing popularity of liposuction, many different liposuction procedures have been created. Liposuction is becoming a much more popular way to remove excess fat from the body and sculpt your body the way you have always wanted. These new and different liposuction procedures have created safer ways to remove fat from your body, while at the same time, decreasing recovery times. The advances in liposuction procedures have made liposuction a safer, more efficient, and a cheaper way to create the body you have always wanted. Gone are the times when liposuction was considered a procedure that just chopped a hole in your stomach region and removed fat from the body. However, with all the changes to liposuction, it is often hard to understand all of the new liposuction procedures. This article is going to list some of the different types of liposuction procedures, give you a brief overview of the most popular types of liposuction, and review the major differences between the procedures to help you better understand them all.
What is liposuction?
First of all, just to make sure everyone is on the same page. Liposuction is the removal of excess fat from the body surgically, using small incisions as access points to pump the fat out of the body.
The early traditional forms of liposuction required major surgery, where a person was knocked out, incisions were made and the fat was removed. I am not saying today’s liposuction procedures are not major procedures, but they are not even close to as risky or painful as the first liposuctions were.
Liposuction can happen on just about any different part of your body. This means you will often hear terms like knee liposuction, arm liposuction, chest liposuction, stomach liposuction, and chin liposuction. These are not necessarily different types of liposuction, these are different areas that liposuction can take place at.
The way the fat cells are loosened up and removed from your body is what marks the major differences between different liposuction procedures.
Different types of Liposuction
There are a few different types of liposuction that are becoming very popular. Liposuction procedures are considered different by how the fat is removed, or how the fat becomes more accessible. All liposuctions are going to have some similarities, which is small incisions being created, and a cannula used to suck out the fat.
Here is a list of different types of liposuction procedures.
Ultrasound Liposuction
An ultrasound liposuction is a liposuction procedure that uses an ultrasound to break up the fat cells in the body. Most people know that ultrasounds are used to find out the sex of the baby and view the organs in the body, but now they can be used to loosen up the fat cells in the body. Once the fat cells are loosened up, incisions are made and the fat is sucked out.
Laser Liposuction
Laser liposuction, just like the name implies, uses laser liposuction to help break up the fat and sculpt the body. Laser liposuction really helps sculpt the body the way the patient wants. Just like the other types of liposuctions, fat cells are sucked out of the body when broken apart. This is a very safe procedure, even though it does sound a little scary with the word laser used in the title.
Sound Wave Liposuction
In sound wave liposuction, sound waves are used to break apart the fat. Sound wave liposuction is going to use general anesthesia. A small incision is made to the area being operated on, and a solution is used to limit bleeding. Sound waves are emitted through the incision, breaking apart the fat. The cannula is then used to suck out the broken fat cells.
Tumescent Liposuction
The word tumescent means to swell, so tumescent liposuction is going to swell the fat cells in your body. Tumescent liposuction has an injection inserted into your body, which causes the fat cells in your body to swell. Once the fat cells swell, they become much easier to remove. Just like the other procedures, a small incision is made and a cannula is used to suck out the fat cells.
Other Forms of Liposuction
There are many other different types of liposuction out there, but the often fall under or are similar to the liposuction procedures listed above. For example, vaser liposuction is an ultrasound liposuction. This means it is going to use an ultrasound to remove fat cells, but it does it a little bit differently. The above guide can be used as a way to understand some of the different types of liposuction available.
Risk Factors
I feel it is always important to make sure that people understand that just because liposuction is much safer than it used to be, there are still some risk factors. You can always have an adverse affect to the anesthetic, which is probably the most dangerous risk factor. Other major risk factors include losing too much blood during the surgical procedure.
You are also going to have the normal problems such as swelling, and possible pain after the procedure. There are also possible risks such as scarring after the process that could happen. Recovery time is also going to vary depending on where the process takes place at. Recovery time can be painful, and it will take time before you are fully able to do the things that make up your routine schedule.
Always consult your friends, family, and doctor before making a final decision on liposuction procedures.Liposuction Procedure Comments
